About Katherine
Katherine Brooking MS, RD is nationally recognized dietitian, speaker, author, and nutrition advocate who is passionate about helping people achieve healthier lives and supporting sustainable food systems.
Since 2018, Katherine has been the creator and host of the Nutrition News Update (NNU) — one of the nation's foremost invitation-only gatherings of food and nutrition media, leading health brands, and trade associations. Thanks to everyone who attends, her vision of bringing together top RD media, nutrition writers and editors, cutting-edge researchers, innovative brands, and trade associations for a fun and lively exchange of ideas comes to life each spring and fall.
Katherine is a go-to resource for the media. Her expert nutrition advice has appeared in hundreds of media outlets including Prevention, Cooking Light, SELF, Reader’s Digest, Huffington Post, Woman’s Day and other top-tier publications. She is a sought-after TV personality, appearing on the TODAY show, The Early Show on CBS, The Dr. Oz Show, Good Morning America Health as well as dozens of local affiliate stations across the country.
In 2019 she was listed as a "Top 50 Influencer" at the world's largest natural foods show, Expo West. She is co-author of The Real Skinny: Appetite for Health’s 101 Fat Habits and Slim Solutions (Penguin 2013).
Katherine is a registered dietitian and holds a Master's in Nutrition Science from Teachers College, Columbia University. She is also a member of the Connecticut Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics and the New York State Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. In addition to her MS, she holds an undergraduate degree from Barnard College and a Master’s Degree in International Affairs from Columbia University.
